I always try to be really balanced in my reviews. Overall the holiday was an incredible experience. In summary we would come back again. Staff, restaurants, cleanliness, fitness and spa, housekeeping and room standards were fantastic. Below is a more detailed review and I have recognised some incredible Royalton employees that were really outstanding. There were only 2 negatives 1. After travelling 20 hours to get to the Hideaway - there was no welcome drink and the first interaction/ welcome was poor. When we travelled to hideaway in Jamaica we were welcomed with a cocktail, a smile and someone that explained the resort and came over to us to check us in When we arrived at St Lucia, there was no cocktail, although there were 3 people sat at desks, one person pointed for us to sit at a table and after 4-5 minutes they came over and checked us in. When I asked if we could have a glass of water she handed us the resort map and told us to make our way to the main reception Martini Bar. 2.Beach - the beach is has public access and although beautiful and safe, there are constant visits from people trying to sell tours and excursions. If this isn’t for you there are plenty of options round the pool. Although the welcome was underwhelming the rest of the holiday was incredible. STAFF I have to say that the St Lucian people are quite different to other carribean countries that I have visited. Some people have previously written that their experience was of rude staff and slow service. My experience is totally the opposite. But they are culturally different to Jamaican, Mexicans etc. My experience is that they are reserved but if you make the effort to speak to them, I found them WARM, GENEROUS, ATTENTIVE. Island life if a slower pace of life. If you want express service like a fast food restaurant then perhaps you need to go to a KFC. RESTAURANTS AND FOOD Hunters Steak House - food was lovely and service was incredible. We ate here 3 times during our 14 day stay. Special shout out to Jayden and Natoya - incredible service and examples of the Royalton culture!! Italian- food again was excellent. Pizza and Pasta. We ate here twice. Zen- teppanyaki We ate here 3 times. Once at the group table and twice at the A la Carte. A la Carte was the best and we were served by Charlene. She was amazing and was also someone who served us at the Italian. Armadillo- tex mex Really good food and service. Dorado - Breakfast This was a highlight - amazing breakfast and an incredible team. Jahlin, Sadia & Amanda Spicy bloody Marie’s- eggs Benedict and cook to order was fantastic (although they do seem to love crispy bacon) BARS & ENTERTAINMENT & FITNESS Hideaway pool Lovely sunbeds and a nice vibe in the morning and fun activities in the afternoon Shout out to Kurdish’s, stephen and Jonny - really good service and great drinks Always loads of towels available Aquarius bar - incredible to watch a sunset and with an amazing host - Anastasia- fast and incredible drinks Housekeeping Bloody amazing. Our room was spotless and cleaned daily. And we celebrated a birthday whilst we were there and Maxilina ran a bath and arranged flowers. Have to say the best housekeeper we have experience in the last 35 years of travelling. Vibe entertainment and Royalton fit Incredible gym - biggest hotel gym I’ve been to in years. New equipment and team on hand from opening to close. You can also do classes - amazing. Shout out to Bell. And finally the entertainment team I know it’s their job but the weren’t fake and took time to speak and just chat. A really great team with some special mentions to Travis, Steffi and Samantha!

The resort is beautiful. We enjoyed the pool everyday. They told us to check out the evening entertainment because the shows are apparently new and we had a great time. We saw the romance show and the retro show. The room was incredibly clean and cozy. Food was great too, and we loved having so many choices at the main buffet. All together a great and relaxing experience with some good times.

Staff are brilliant but the hotel is very tired and needs a revamp, some of the restaurants the food is ok but most of the food is only average at best. It is 4* at the most deffo not 5*. It was a lot of money and we are disappointed and would not recommend

Hideaway was a win for our group. Every night felt like a celebration but never to wild. The private adults only pool was our favorite spot, and the waitstaff kept the drinks flowing without ever missing a beat. Overall an amazing experience and would a 100% recommend

We booked this hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary, something special and different to our normal holidays in Turkey or Greece, what a mistake. We paid just short of £5000 for ten days and it was rubbish. When we first arrived we got told our room we requested wasn't available so they put us in a double room with two double beds and a sofa bed which was falling apart, she advised us she would contact us tomorrow and move us to the room we requested but that never happened. I contacted the hotel months before we arrived and told them about our anniversary and they said they would decorate the room with a few nice things but that never happened. We ended up staying in this family room for ten days. The room was ok but looked tired and dirty in places but the landings outside the rooms are horrible with ants running around, cockroaches and balls of hair blowing around, the windows have never been cleaned and the lifts are dirty. The bar staff are ignorant and rude, if you want attention from the bar staff you need to be a pretty girl and they will serve you straight away, oh and flirt with you and just ignore anyone else at the bar. The pool bars are never stocked and most drinks you ask for they can't make, but the impression I got was they couldn't be bothered to make the cocktails. The restaurant staff are rude and throw your plates on the table, the buffet restaurant is really poor, staff offer you a tea or coffee which then takes 10 minutes for them to return and then another 10 minutes to bring the milk and that's if they remember at all. We booked adults only but the hotel is for everyone including children, the buffet is for everyone and so are the 8 restaurants so expect to hear kids crying and running around. The entertainment bar at night was hit and miss, a couple of good acts on and good atmosphere but most nights it's poor with a quiz that you do on your phone. We ate at all the restaurant's and they are nothing special, the food is mediocre and there is no atmosphere, we couldn't even get a steak in the steakhouse one night as they had run out. A little background music would help in all the restaurants but it's deadly silent. Make sure your food is hot or you will end up spending most days on the toilet. If you are taking children then be prepared to see and smell drugs being smoked. The hotel also offers shisha pipes at the entertainment bar at night which for me is wrong when kids are around. God forbid you ever need a lifeguard, we witnessed them daily sat on sun loungers next to young girls in bikinis paying no attention to anything else. Upon departure we got chased and shouted at by a hotel security guard as we got into our mini bus to the airport, he said we hadn't checked out and handed our piece of paper in, I told him we had given it to the bell boy but he wouldn't let us get in the mini bus and told our driver to keep our cases out until he got back, he returned and just nodded at the driver, no apology to us and he just walked off. The ride to and from the airport is scary, they overtake on blind bends and drive like it's a F1 track. We expected so much more from what is sold to us as a holiday in paradise, it was far from that. The hotel really needs to up their game but I'm guessing I will get the same reply as everyone else does. One plus note, the Vibe team are brilliant and always speak to you, they are very good around the pool areas and at the night entertainment area. Apart from that everyone else needs sacking or retraining
